Software giant Microsoft is using 2010 to clear out some of its older operating systems now that Windows 7 has hit the ground running.
While support for Windows Vista without a service pack ended on April 13, free security updates will end for all versions of Windows 2000 and Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) on July 13 this year.
Microsoft is recommending Windows 2000 customers consider Windows 7 however, consumers using Windows XP SP2 will be able to maintain security update support by simply installing Service Pack 3 which is available as a free download from the Microsoft website.
Windows Vista customers should update to Service Pack 2, again, available as a free download from the Microsoft website.
