Iconic computer brand Apple appears as though it is still having supply trouble for its new iPad with reports the Australian shipping date has slipped from its original May 28 date.
While the Apple Australia website continues to show “coming May 28″ on its homepage, pre-ordering gives a shipping date of “by June 7″ and there is also a purchase limit of two per customer.
No information has been released on why the date slippage with APCmag.com speculating on whether it was a flurry of orders or a shortfall of iPads.
The iPad is still expected to go on sale in Australia through Apple stores on May 28 however, Apple’s ability to keep stores stocked in the short term may be difficult if supplies are tight.
Apple has previously stated that iPad prices will start at $629 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version and top out at $1049 for the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G model. The company is blaming Australia’s GST for the seemingly high prices compared to those being paid in the US.
Apple released its iPad device in the US on April 3 and claimed to have sold one million in the first 28 days.
