Consumer electronics company LG has announced the release of its new Mini smartphone.
The new GD880 is a compact unit featuring a 3.2-inch scratch-resistant touchscreen LCD panel with five-megapixel (5MP) image sensor and FM receiver. LG has also included its new Phantom Browser that aims for speed but also incorporates flash animation. The LCD screen features 480×854-pixel resolution.
The phone has 330MB internally available for use but it can be expanded by installing an SD Micro flash card. Capacities up to 32GB are supported. MP3 ringtones are playable and the phone can handle MP3, WMA and AAC audio formats through the media player, which also supports DivX/XviD/MP4 and H.264 video formats.
The image sensor can capture still images up to 5MP (2560×1920-pixels) as well as VGA (640×480-pixel) video at 30 frames per second (30fps).
It operates on 2G in four bands – 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz and 900MHz/2100MHz bands for 3G. Data connectivity is decent with GPRS, EDGE plus 3G connectivity at up to 7.2Mbps via HSDPA. It also has Wi-Fi on-board support 802.11b/g and it’s DLNA (Digital Living Network Architecture) certified.
There are a number of sensors in the phone including accelerometer for auto-rotation plus proximity detector for auto turn-off.
The phone features a 1000mAh Lithium-ioon battery, good for seven hours talk time and 330 hours on standby.
The Mini is now available through Vodafone, 3, Telechoice, Allphone and Crazy John’s stores.
