Global network player Huawei and telco giant Telstra today announced the first successful demos of LTE (long-term evolution) technology on the 1800MHz spectrum in Australia.
“Our trials with Huawei are giving us valuable insights into the potential of LTE technology at 1800MHz and helping Telstra understand how we can make best use of both existing and potential future spectrum assets to continue to deliver a world class mobile broadband service,” Mr. Rocca said.
Telstra is running tests in Victoria to work out how best to implement LTE in its Next G network and will be testing it across multiple bands.
Some of the factors being tested are MIMO (multiple-input/multiple-output) antenna configurations and auto configuration networks that automatically determine the best setup to optimise network performance and reduce costs.
