Talk to web designers and most will have tales to tell of getting their fancy websites to work well with Internet Explorer 6. Some have even gone as far as to call for IE6 to be banned.
So it’s a turn up for the books that the web browser that most adheres to the current HTML5 specification is Internet Explorer 9.
It managed to achieve 100% compliance in five out of seven test areas carried out by the W3C. The latest Google Chrome 7 beta managed four perfect scores while Firefox 4.0 Beta 6 and Opera 10.6 both managed three. Apple’s Safari browser gained full marks in only two test areas.
While the HMTL5 specification has yet to be completed and these tests do not include all areas of web browser function, it’s interesting to see that as far as HTML5 is concerned, there are still some surprises in this market.
