The booming market in tablet devices has reportedly seen Apple add more touchscreen panel suppliers to its list.

The iPad maker is making sure it doesn’t get caught short by the already-tight supply of touchpanels by adding Taiwanese panel makers Chimei Innolux and Cando to its current cache of Wintek, Sintek Photronics and TPK Touch Solutions.

Online new source Digitimes.com is reporting sources are expecting Apple to ship up to six million iPad 2 tablets per month when the new device arrives, up from the current average volume of four million.

The report also adds further cold water to rumours of a seven-inch iPad. While Apple boss Steve Jobs has already dismissed the idea as unworkable, sources in the iPad supply chain have also said they’ve heard nothing of a seven-inch iPad.

Many are already hoping that Apple incorporates new features into the second-generation iPad such as external storage as well as front- and rear-facing cameras.
