Our story yesterday about leaked Australian iPad 2 pricing looks to have been on the money with Apple’s local Australian arm confirming the pricing is correct.

The 16GB Wi-Fi model will have a recommended retail price (RRP) of $579 inc. GST, the 32GB Wi-Fi version, $689 inc. GST and the 64GB Wi-Fi model, $799 inc. GST.

The 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G unit will go for $729 inc. GST, the 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G model for $839 inc. GST and the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G version for $949 inc. GST.

Meanwhile Apple has confirmed that the iPad 2 will go on sale in another 25 countries as of this Friday. However, those hoping to snare one at 9am will be disappointed – the company has announced that the tablet will not go on sale until 5pm local time.

The second-generation tablet will go on sale this Friday in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

Hong Kong, Singapore and other countries will have to wait until April before it is released locally.

However, it looks as though from Apple’s official press release that supplies will be tight.

“While competitors are still struggling to catch up with our first iPad, we’ve changed the game again with iPad 2,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US, and customers around the world have told us they can’t wait to get their hands on it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
