Korean giant Samsung is going into damage control as reports of notebooks preloaded with commercial spyware have begun surfacing in the US.
Online news site Network World is reporting on claims that keylogger spyware tool StarLogger has been found on two Samsung R525 notebooks.
This website contacted Samsung’s Australian PR firm and we’ve just received the following response:
Samsung takes these kind of allegations very seriously and our headquarters is investigating the case as a matter of urgency. As this is not an issue from Australia, it is not something we are able to comment on locally. As soon as we have an update on the investigation, we will share this with you.
The model found with spyware installed was a Samsung R525. This particular notebook has not been sold in Australia, is not listed on the Samsung Australian website and doesn’t appear on the local product site StaticIce.
