While the Ouya open-source Android gaming console won’t hit the streets until June, there’s a growing demand for PSP-style handheld gaming machines.

The latest to hit the market is the Magic Media i4.

Packing a five-inch TFT LCD screen with 800×480-pixel resolution, the i4 also combines Samsung’s Exynos 4412 SoC (the one driving the Galaxy S3 smartphone) with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal flash storage. There’s also a passing resemblance to the PSP in there somewhere too.

It’s also well equipped wirelessly with 3G, GPS, Bluetooth – but no mention of Wi-Fi.

The operating system is said to be a ‘worked’ version of Android 4.0 and includes built-in emulators for N64, GBA and NES games.

The Magic Media i4 is being shown off at the current Hong Kong Electronics Fair.
