a1810A new quad-core Android tablet looks set to hit the streets of France in the coming weeks. French retailer  Rue du Commerce is taking pre-orders for a new tablet called the Iconia Tab A1-810. Liliputing is reporting the new tablet features a quad-core processor with Jelly Bean operating system (Android 4.2), along with a 7.9-inch I-PS screen and 1024×768-pixel resolution.

Acer already offers a low-cost dual-core 7-inch tablet in Australia through retailer JB HiFi, called the NT.L15SA, but with a quad-core chip, the fractionally larger A1-810 is excepted to perform more like Google’s Nexus 7, but with a lower screen resolution. That should place pricing of the 810 somewhere in the $US225 price range, which at the €199 asking price, is probably on par with the Nexus 7 prices.

According to Rue du Commerce, the A1-810 features 16GB of RAM (upgradeable to 32GB via MicroSD card), a MediaTek MT8125 quad-core CPU at 1.2GHz and Bluetooth 4.0.
