iaiwaiOnline technology site GeekBuying.com has just announced availability of a low-cost quad-core eight-inch tablet.

The unit from Chinese brand IAIWAI features an 8-inch capacitive touch screen with 1024×768-pixel resolution, powered by Actions Semi’s new ATM7029 quad-core CPU running at 1GHz. It also features 1GB of DDR3 RAM plus 8GB of on-board flash storage.

You get two cameras for your trouble – a rear-firing 2MP unit and a basic VGA camera facing front.

It features microSD card slot for 32GB of external storage and includes 802.11n Wi-FI wireless networking. There’s no Bluetooth at this price but you can get external 3G connectivity (optional extra).

It’s powered by Google’s Android 4.1 operating system however, we know little about the battery other than it being a Lithium-ion type.

Actions Semi’s new quad-core ATM7029 is the latest quad-core ARM-based CPU to hit the market but it appears to be based on older Cortex A9 architecture rather than the new low-power Cortex A7 core.
