twittermusicTwitter has just announced it’s jumped into the music business.

The online social media network has launched Twitter #music, which promises to be a new way users can find new music.

Using Twitter itself, it mines data looking for emerging artists and the most popular tracks being played. So far, songs comes from iTunes, Spotify and Rdio with iTunes selected as the default preview provider. Rdio and Spotify subscribers will be able to log into their accounts from the app to hear the full version of a track that click on in the app.

So far, it’s an Apple iOS app only (available at the Apple app store) with Twitter claiming it will bring it to Android ‘over time’. Or, you can just use the web version that will appear in the next few hours on music.twitter.com.

Launch countries include UK, Canada, US, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.
