One of the world’s favourite weblog tools is getting more than a new lick of paint. Wordpress has announced that the first release candidate of version 2.5 is now available for those willing to help out development and catch any bugs that may have so far fallen through.According to the Wordpress development blog, the new version not only gets a spruce up of the interface but a raft of new features including a customisable interface, multi-file uploads, built-in galleries, one-click plugin upgrades, tag management and faster load times. Wordpress developers are looking anyone able to help to jump on-board and give 2.5 a test run, however it’s being recommended to those who backup regularly, just in case anything bad happens. That said, the developers are saying the software is done and stable and could be released today but they’re after more feedback from users before they push it out the door.
A general release date is expected to be announced in the next few days. You can download the new RC1 at http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.5-RC1.zip and you can email Wordpress with your thoughts at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . |
