Gigabyte adds native 1200 and 1333MHz DDR2 memory to select P43 and P45 motherboards.

Taiwanese motherboard manufacturer Gigabyte today announced that it had released new BIOS updates for its range of Intel P43 and P45 motherboards that added new native support for high-speed DDR2 memory.

Gigabyte P45 boards would see native speed support for 1333MHz DDR2 memory while the lower-cost P43 models would gain from the extra speed of 1200MHz DDR2 memory.

Users wishing to make use of the higher-speed memory will need to update their motherboards with the latest BIOS releases available from the Gigabyte website.

The boards include:

GIGABYTE P45 Motherboards

GA-EP45-DQ6

GA-EP45-Extreme

GA-EP45-DS5

GA-EP45-DS3R

GA-EP45-DS4P

GA-EP45-DS3

GA-EP45-DS4

GA-EP45-DS3LR

GA-EP45-DS3P

GA-EP45-DS3L

GIGABYTE P43 Motherboards

GA-EP43-DS3L

GA-EP43-DS3R

GA-EP43-S3L

GA-EP43-DS3

New BIOS updates can be downloaded from the Gigabyte website at http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_List.aspx

WARNING – Updating a motherboard BIOS can render a PC unusable if the update fails. If you’re not confident about upgrading the BIOS yourself, take your PC to a local competent PC retailer and they should be able to do it for you for a small fee. You could also buy your 1200 or 1333MHz DDR2 memory at the same time.
